The City of Dallas is inviting residents to participate in the eighth Annual Branch Out Dallas program, giving residents another opportunity to receive a free tree for their property while helping grow a greener, more sustainable Dallas.
Now in its eighth year, Branch Out Dallas provides Dallas residents with a free 5-gallon tree. The program supports the city’s efforts to grow Dallas’ urban tree canopy since trees help reduce stormwater runoff into drainage systems, cool temperatures, improve air quality and mitigate the heat island effect.
Online registration is now open and will remain open through September 30, 2026, while supplies last. Dallas residents can register at dallas.gov/branchoutdallas. To participate, residents must live within Dallas city limits and have a Dallas Water Utilities water account number available when registering.
During registration, participants will be able to select from available tree varieties and choose a pick-up location. Residents who successfully register must pick up their tree on Dallas Arbor Day, Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon. Tree delivery is not available, so participants should plan to pick up their tree at the location they selected during registration.
Branch Out Dallas is led by Dallas Water Utilities staff with support from the citywide Forestry team and help from community partners and volunteers who distribute the trees. By participating in the program, residents can make a lasting investment in their homes and neighborhoods. As the trees grow, they can provide shade, help manage stormwater and contribute to a healthier urban environment throughout Dallas.
