Lowest Greenville Avenue makeover now underway

Reconstruction of two portions of Lowest Greenville Avenue, from Ross to Alta and Bell to Belmont is now underway, and is expected to be completed by spring/summer 2016. Two-way traffic will be maintained during most of the nine months of construction, but detours may be required in the later phase. Pedestrian access to all businesses will be maintained.

The project is a continuation of reconstruction started in 2013 to widen sidewalks, install new street lighting, park benches, bike racks, trash receptacles, landscaping, a new driving surface and colorful brick pavers.

“We’re excited about continuing the new look for Lowest Greenville” said Public Works Director, Rick Galceran. “We expect the City’s investment to help revitalize the neighborhood and boost pedestrian traffic. The completion of this project will result in a seamless new and improved look from Ross for six blocks all the way to Belmont,” he said.

Project cost is $3.9 million, funded by the 2012 Bond Program.
