Implementation of loose dog recommendations presented to Council Committee

Dallas Police Department Deputy Chief Robert Sherwin recently briefed the City Council’s Quality of Life and Environment Committee on implementation of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) recommendations on loose dogs.

Among the recommendations:

  • Approve a new Dallas Animal Services (DAS) mission statement
  • Pick up 6,900 more loose dogs
  • Increase live releases by 7,290
  • Provide open access to data and reports
  • Improve access and accountability of DAS
  • Fund and implement 46,000 free spay/neuter surgeries over the next three years

Quarterly updates will be provided to the Committee beginning in December and the strategic recommendations are expected to be completed over the next six months.
