Dallas Public Library to host Global Family Reunion Party June 6

The Dallas Public Library’s Genealogy Division will host a Global Family Reunion Party from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday June 6, featuring live streaming video from New York with historian Henry Louis Gates, Dr. Oz and former President George H.W. Bush. The Genealogy Division is located on the eighth floor of the Central Library at 1515 Young St.

The Global Family Reunion was founded by bestselling author A. J. Jacobs (The Year of Living Biblically, The Know-It-All, and Drop Dead Healthy).  The author’s goal is to build a massive family tree of the entire world using websites like Geni and WikiTree.

The Global Family Reunion will take place in Queens, New York, featuring numerous speakers and celebrities. Morgan Spurlock, Academy Award-nominated director of Supersize Me is also producing a documentary of the momentous day.

In addition to providing live streaming directly from the event in New York to the Dallas Party, the Dallas Genealogy Division will send photographs and video to the main event from the Central Library. Several programs centered around the theme “21st Century Genealogy” will be provided by staff and volunteers from the Dallas Genealogical Society. Participants will also have the opportunity to win door prizes.
