Dallas Public Library to host “Fancy Nancy” author Jane O’Connor Saturday

The Dallas Public Library is throwing a “Fancy Nancy” Party featuring author Jane O’Connor, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at their NorthPark Center Children’s Library, 8687 North Central Expressway. The author of the popular children’s series will read one of her books, judge the “Fancy Nancy” Costume Contest and sign autographs.

The “Fancy Nancy” picture book series follows the exploits of a young girl who adores all things fancy: dressing extravagantly, using big words, and everything French. Children are encouraged to dress as heroine Fancy Nancy would dress, with lots of accessories, especially tiaras, tutus, parasols, and glittery shoes. A few embellishments will be provided at the party for kids who need something extra for their outfits.

Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. in NorthCourt with crafts presented by Paper Source. Dallas Children’s Theater will present a sneak peek of their current show, “Fancy Nancy the Musical” before the author appears. All children attending will receive a copy of one of the “Fancy Nancy” books which the author will sign after her reading. Children may also bring their own books from home to be signed.

O’Connor will also be signing books at a special 3 p.m. performance of “Fancy Nancy the Musical” at Dallas Children’s Theater. The Fancy Nancy Party is made possible through a generous donation from NorthPark as part of their 50th anniversary charitable giving. NorthPark has also provided for the purchase of Kindles for use in Bookmarks. Additional support is provided by Atmos Energy and the Friends of the Dallas Public Library.
