Dallas Police Department to brief crime report on Dec. 8

Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown will brief the City’s Public Safety Committee Dec. 8 with updated major crime statistics and index crime reports through November 2015.

Dallas has recorded the most significant decline in crime among major Texas cities and peer cities nationwide. Over the last 11 years, total crime in Dallas is down 52.84 percent. The 2014 Total Crime Uniform Crime Report puts Dallas’ overall crime rate at 42.54 crimes per 1,000 people.

Houston and San Antonio recorded 56.85 and 59.57 crimes per 1,000 people, respectively. Across the City’s 14 council districts, quality of life enforcement activities garnered more than 2,200 criminal trespass offenses and 2,000 panhandling citations from January to November 2015.
