Dallas Animal Services to brief City Council Wednesday on operating budget and metrics

Dallas Animal Services (DAS) Manager Jody Jones will present a briefing to City Council Wednesday as part of the FY 2015-16 City Budget Workshop series.

DAS (http://bit.ly/1JGQOUv) will provide a review of its budget and metrics, to include strategies and results on loose dogs, data driven enforcement and education, staffing and the proposed FY15-16 needs.

Each year, DAS provides 24/7 response for over 50,000 service requests and the daily care of over 600 animals. DAS is dedicated to the humane treatment of animals in Dallas and educating others about responsible pet ownership. DAS respond to calls regarding animal welfare and concerns, conducts free Responsible Pet Ownership classes, holds offsite animal adoption events, and provides educational information at public safety fairs, environmental festivals, and neighborhood organizations.
