Dallas Animal Services partners for “Clear the Shelter” campaign this Saturday

Dallas Animal Services will join more than 50 north Texas shelters and dozens more across the county working to find homes for adoptable pets during the annual Clear the Shelters event, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adoption fees will be waived on all pets at 1818 N. Westmoreland from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at the Dallas Animal Services PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center, 16821 N. Coit Road, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. All pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.  There is a $7 licensing fee for Dallas residents.

Nearly 20,000 pets found their forever homes in 2015, when DAS and 400 other animal shelters across the country partnered with NBC and Telemundo for a record-setting 200-plus animals in just one day.

“These are great pets that just need loving homes,” said DAS Manager Jody Jones. “The mission of this campaign is to change the negative stereotypes of animal shelters across the country and put as many animals as possible into permanent homes.”
