Council to consider Zale development grant agreement Wednesday

The Dallas City Council will be asked to consider authorization of a Chapter 380 economic development grant agreement with Zale Delaware, Inc., on April 27. If approved, the grant agreement would provide an amount not-to-exceed $450,000 for the relocation and expansion of Zale’s operating headquarters and an associated jewelry repair facility to the Cypress Waters development in the City of Dallas.

The proposed economic development grant will stimulate Zale to relocate and expand to new $50.5 million office and repair facilities under a ten year lease. By the end of 2020, Zale plans to have over 1,000 full-time employees, including 200-300 newly created positions, at the new facilities.

Zale is owned by Signet Jewelers which operates 3,600 stores worldwide under the name brands of Kay Jewelers, Jared the Galleria of Jewelry, Gordon’s Jewelers, among others. Signet realizes $6 billion in annual sales.
