City of Dallas to host Women Who Build event

DALLAS – The City of Dallas is bringing the community together to showcase women in the building and construction industry.

The inaugural Women Who Build event, hosted by Development Services Department, will celebrate the women’s success in the construction, architecture, engineering, code enforcement planning and design industry by bringing together women and men to celebrate, explore, connect, share opinions and inspire the next generation.

“Empowering women in construction is not just about breaking barriers; it’s about building bridges to a future where every woman’s dedication and expertise are not only acknowledged but celebrated,” said Felecia Foster, training and development manager. “Together, we construct a path for inclusivity, innovation, and limitless possibilities in the dynamic world of building and development.”

Women Who Build will feature a panel discussion on fostering resilience, being a change maker, women in leadership roles and inclusivity.

With the theme being “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress,” it is also a celebration of International Women’s Day and the Women in Construction Week.

“I am thrilled to host the inaugural Women Who Build event. Women play a vital role in our industry. We’d like to take this opportunity to recognize their hard work, share their inspiring stories and learn how we can create more opportunities for women in the industry,” said Andrew Espinosa, director of Development Services Department.

The event will take place on March 8, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters, 1309 Canton St., Dallas TX 75201.
