City names new OEQ Managing Director

Senior Assistant City Attorney James McGuire is the City’s new Office of Environmental Quality (OEQ) Managing Director. McGuire came to the City of Dallas five years ago as a Senior Assistant City Attorney. Over the course of his City career he has worked extensively with OEQ and other city departments to provide legal and environmental support for a number of transactions and issues.

jmcguireMcGuire has a Master of Science degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin, and a decade of experience working with environmental professionals and other experts to address complex environmental issues. As a City of Dallas Attorney, he gained additional experience in environmental legal compliance, enforcement, and litigation.

In the OEQ, he will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the City’s Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), coordinating the implementation of the City’s sustainability plan, conducting public outreach on environmental issues, developing and carrying out education and training for employees, and providing assistance and support to other City departments and Council on environmental issues.
