Although the National Weather Service is not predicting major precipitation, an Arctic blast is moving through the Metroplex today.

City of Dallas Recreation centers and Libraries will serve as warming centers as needed; shelters are on standby. The City also has a few shelter locations on standby and is coordinating with Red Cross to open shelters if needed. The City will open shelters if there are snow/ice accumulations and travel is hazardous.

Streets will be monitored overnight and scouting crews are prepared overnight to monitor bridges and overpasses and have trucks pre-staged with sand/salt mix to deploy if necessary.
