Summer of Safety 2024
For a third year, the City of Dallas is proud to offer dozens of free and low-cost activities for youth to enjoy, helping them to stay safe and active during the summertime.
Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson, Police Chief Eddie Garcia and other city and Dallas ISD officials announced a new “Summer of Safety” campaign to highlight some of these activities.
Here is some of what’s available:
Mayor’s Youth Sports Ticket Program
The Mayor’s Youth Sports Ticket Program is an initiative created to welcome local youth to area professional, collegiate, and amateur sporting events at no charge. Dallas residents between the ages of 12 and 17 are eligible to participate with a goal of including sports fans who might otherwise not be able to attend their hometown teams’ events. Partnering with the Dallas Sports Commission, the Mayor’s program will provide a ticket to sports experiences to adolescents with each youth ticket holder also receiving an accompanying ticket for a chaperone. Dallas Park and Recreation

Teen All Access Pass
Dallas Park and Recreation and several local partners have teamed up to offer up to 10,000 City of Dallas Teens (ages 13-17) FREE activities during the month of July! Visit any Dallas Recreation Center to sign up and receive your FREE All Access Pass!
Passes can be picked up beginning at 10 a.m. on July 1, 2024 at any City of Dallas Recreation Centers (while supplies last) and during normal operating hours (listed below) beginning July 2, 2024 (while supplies last).

Teens ages 13 – 17 must be present when registering for the pass and proof of City of Dallas residency is required. Adults are not allowed to pick up a pass on behalf of their teen. Please have a Parent/Guardian drivers license or teen drivers license/ID with you to sign up and receive your pass. Acceptable forms of ID will be Texas ID or Drivers License showing Dallas residency, or other forms of ID such as a passport, another state ID/DL, Matrícula Consular ID/Mexican ID card. Other forms of ID must be accompanied by a current utility bill showing Dallas residency.
Regular Hour of Operation for pass pickup beginning July 2 – (CLOSED JULY 4) – July 31 – (or while supplies last) will be:
Mon – Thurs: 9am – 8pm
Friday: 9am – 7pm
Saturday: 9am – 2pm

Harmony CDC
Harmony CDC provides no-cost counseling sessions for qualifying Dallas residents, including teens and their parents. This resource is funded and made possible through support from the City of Dallas (American Rescue Plan Act and The Drivers of Poverty). Residents can sign-up today for a virtual or in-person appointment by visiting www.Harmonycdc.org/counseling. Licensed therapists are available to help you strengthen your coping skills, build better communication skills, and improve your overall mental health and well-being.
Dallas Public Library
With 30 locations in every part of the city, you’re always close to a Dallas Public Library. Get all the books, DVDs, comics and magazines you need to stay entertained all summer long. Take advantage of free Wi-Fi in our buildings, use a computer or attend any of the hundreds of workshops, events, classes and other activities for all ages every day! A library card is free for Dallas residents.
SMART Summer
Dallas Public Library’s annual SMART Summer learning program includes hundreds of events and activities June 1 to August 10. Kids ages birth to 18 can earn free books to build their own home libraries if they keep track of every time they read, discover and create. The fun starts with a kickoff party for the whole family on June 1 at select libraries, in partnership with Dallas ISD. For more information and to sign up, visit www.dallaslibrary.org/smartsummer
Free lunch!
Dallas Public Library offers free meals to kids under age 18 who need it at 15 library locations. No proof of need is required. Just come hungry! Find one near you.
Just for Teens!
Dallas Public Library has programs and activities just for teens! Highlights include a K-Pop event at the Audelia Road Branch and a robotics program at the Polk-Wisdom Branch. Plus, teens can pick up activity kits to do on their own. Kits contain all the supplies you need to make a granny square, mini painting, onigiri and friendship bracelets. Kits will be available at Audelia Road, Fretz Park, Hampton-Illinois, Lochwood, North Oak Cliff, Lancaster-Kiest, Prairie Creek, Timberglen and White Rock Hills Branches starting June 1.
Office of Arts and Culture
Culture Pass Dallas
A collaboration between the Office of Arts and Culture and the Dallas Public Library, Culture Pass Dallas is designed to provide Dallas residents access to arts and culture programming free of cost, ensuring all residents have opportunities to experience arts and culture throughout the city. Dallas Police Department
Dallas Police Activities League (PAL)
The Dallas Police Activities League (PAL) is a program designed to build trust and understanding between police officers and our youths. Positive rapport is built with youths built through academic achievements, cultural awareness, artistic appreciation, and athletic activities.

Police Explorers
The Dallas Police Explorers program, affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, offers youths between the ages 14-21, a chance to learn about law enforcement. The Explorers Program focuses on building well rounded individuals by developing:
- Build Character
- Develop Leadership Skills
- Appreciation of Community Service
- Responsible Citizenship

Junior Explorers
The Dallas Junior Explorer program is designed for children between the ages 9-13, to learn about law enforcement in a safe and positive environment. The program aims to:
- Build positive relationships between children and law enforcement officers.
- Teach children about law enforcement techniques and leadership skills.
- Provide community service.
- Help children avoid negative behaviors and interactions.

UNIDOS Back to School Health & Safety Fair
The UNIDOS Back to School Fair offers essential school supplies and valuable services to ensure that students are equipped with the necessary tools to excel in their studies. Such events not only alleviate the financial burden on families but also foster a sense of community and support for the educational journey of young learners.

Neighborhood Patrol Officers (NPO)
Neighborhood Patrol Officers will engage with children through positive activities and team sports that will provide the youths a sense of excitement and community spirit. These positive interactions are crucial to the youth’s social development.
Jubilee Park Water Safety Class
We are excited to offer a FREE water safety program for children in grades First through Eighth grade in partnership with the YMCA. This program teaches important skills to help kids stay safe in and around water. Transportation is available for some classes. Sign up now to give your child the chance to learn and have fun in the water! Classes run June 10 through July 3. Current classes available are:
