Office of Business Diversity hosting information session for women in hauling, transportation

The City of Dallas Office of Business Diversity (OBD) and Office of Environmental Quality (OEQ) collaborated with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to host a virtual information session for minority and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBEs) in the hauling and transportation industries.

The virtual information session starts Thursday, July 9 at 6:30 p.m. and will cover the Texas Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Program (TxVEMP) and the Texas Emissions Reduction Program (TERP). The information session will also discuss available grants to help businesses replace outdated vehicles while also having a positive impact on the environment.

“The Office of Business Diversity is extremely excited to be working with NCTCOG, but even more excited to introduce these grant opportunities to the minority and women-owned business communities,” said Zarin Gracey, Office of Business Diversity Director. This represents an opportunity for these businesses to get in position to grow and compete!

The TxVEMP program provides funds to replace or repower a variety of vehicles used to haul waste, including garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, sweeper trucks, chipper trucks and grapple trucks. The TERP program provides financial incentives to eligible individuals, businesses, or local governments to reduce emissions from polluting vehicles and equipment.
