Thanksgiving Holiday Closures You Need to Know About

Various City of Dallas facilities will be closed for Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov 22) and the day after Thanksgiving (Friday, Nov. 23), including Dallas City Hall. Below is a list of city services affected and their holiday schedules.  Be sure to take time to enjoy the holiday with friends and family.

Sanitation:

There will be no garbage collection on Thursday, Nov. 22 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. THURSDAY collection customers should place their garbage and recycling carts out for collection on WEDNESDAY, Nov. 21. The Transfer Stations, McCommas Bluff Landfill and Sanitation Services Administration offices will be closed.

Regular garbage and recycling collections will resume for FRIDAY customers. Brush/bulk collection will resume for 3rd MONDAY customers, if needed. McCommas Bluff Landfill and Bachman Transfer Station will reopen to the public. Sanitation Administration Offices will remain closed.

311 Customer Service:

Customer Service Representatives will be available to take service related urgent calls such as water main breaks, downed trees/limbs, signal lights out/down, animal control, etc. Water Customer Service will be closed. Dallas Animal Services (DAS):

DAS’ main shelter will be closed on Thanksgiving Day but will open at normal business hours on Friday. Field operations will not be interrupted.

Dallas Public Libraries:

All Dallas Libraries will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 21. All libraries will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov. 23. Regular hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Dallas Fire-Rescue:

Administrative offices are closed. DFR will operate on a normal schedule.

Court & Detention Services: 

The Municipal Courts Building at 2014 Main will be closed Thursday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Nov.  23. Court will resume on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018.  Payments by mail are accepted with postmark dates honored. Online payments may be made at www.dallascityhall.com. Full payments and attorney and cash bonds for arrested defendants will be processed 24/7 (including holidays) at the Dallas Marshal’s Office, 1600 Chestnut St., Dallas 75226

Dallas Park and Recreation:

Administrative offices and Recreation Centers are closed.
