Robots now help TSA screen baggage at Love Field

The Transportation Security Administration, in partnership with Dallas Love Field Airport, has upgraded the automated baggage screening system to increase speed and efficiency, while reducing the risk of injury for TSA Transportation Security Officers (TSOs).

The new Mobile Inspection Tables system makes baggage screening more efficient by creating additional queuing time to prevent backups. The upgrades also include better tools to track bags and give TSOs the ability to perform more targeted searches when a bag alarms.

Bags that do not alarm the system are automatically screened without the need for a TSO to touch them. In addition, bags that require additional screening are delivered automatically to TSO work stations, eliminating the need for them to push, pull or lift heavy bags, which can result in injuries.
