Search dog reunited with North Texas Marine after Afghanistan service

Marine Sgt. Robert Hulsey has been reunited with his constant companion for seven months in Afghanistan – a black lab named Joe.

Sgt. Hulsey deployed to Afghanistan in the spring of 2011, where he was paired with Joe, an Improvised Detection Dog who helped detect explosives with Hulsey. Together, they conducted searches and daily patrols through Marja, Afghanistan. Joe arrived at Love Field on Sept. 9, and has been adopted by Hulsey, thus ensuring his reintegration into a loving, forever home after a lifetime of service to his country.

The reunion was made possible by the American Humane Association and Mission K9 Rescue, who work to bring military war dogs back to the U.S. and reconnect them with their former handlers. It is estimated that each dog saves approximately 150 to 200 military service members lives.
