Dallas’ Integrated Pipeline Wins Envision Award

A cooperative project between the City of Dallas and the Tarrant Regional Water District has received the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision Platinum Award.

The Integrated Pipeline services Dallas and the Metroplex for less cost than prior systems. It pulls water from Dallas’ Lake Palestine and the Water District’s Cedar Creek and Richland Chambers Reservoirs. Dallas receives 150 million gallons per day from the Pipeline. The City pays an equal distribution of operation and maintenance costs, while the Water District owns and operates the system itself.

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure has only awarded 15 infrastructure projects across North America, and the Integrated Pipeline is the first water system to receive the Platinum Award. It is awarded based on 60 sustainability criteria across five categories: Quality of Life, Resource Allocation, Natural World, Climate and Risk.
