Dallas Animal Services breaks adoption record

Dallas Animal Services adopted 924 animals in the month of July, breaking their all-time adoption record. The last time they adopted more than 900 animals in a single month was in January 2010.

This is an important milestone for Dallas Animal Services, who has worked hard to increase the number of animals adopted. During the 2014-2015 fiscal year, DAS set a new record for live animal releases – 52 percent. They euthanized 15,000 fewer animals during 2014-2015 than in the 2007-2008 fiscal year. In fact, euthanasia rates have been on a steady decline since 2007-2008.

Dallas Animal Services attributes this to aggressive spay/neuter efforts and rescue partners taking in animals. DAS spayed or neutered almost 11,500 animals and transferred 4,742 animals to adoption partners.
