About the Dallas Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Dallas Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program empowers residents with the training and skills needed to support their families, neighbors, and communities during emergencies. Supported by Dallas Emergency Management & Crisis Response, the program offers hands-on instruction in disaster preparedness, basic first aid, fire safety, light search and rescue, and emergency response coordination.

CERT participants gain the confidence to respond effectively in times of crisis and become valuable assets to both their families and the broader community. CERT-trained individuals contribute to a stronger, more resilient Dallas by playing an active role in preparedness efforts, supporting local emergency services, and volunteering during special events and post-disaster recovery operations.

Training is offered at no cost and is open to individuals of all backgrounds who are interested in public safety, emergency readiness, and civic engagement. In addition to practical emergency response skills, participants develop capabilities in leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and collaborative response—strengthening the city one household, one neighborhood, and one community at a time.
