City of Dallas Director wins Latina Trailblazer
Liz Cedillo-Pereira, Director of Dallas’ Office of Welcoming Communities & Immigrant Affairs was honored as a Latina Trailblazer by the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas. She was honored in a ceremony at Dallas City Hall, surrounded by members of the Dallas Chapter of the organization.
“We are very proud to highlight the work of well-deserving and hard-working women like Liz each year,” said Anette Soto, State Chair of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas. “It is an honor to recognize Liz as a 2017 Latina Trailblazer for her tremendous efforts on behalf of the immigrant community both here in North Texas, and also nationally. She is a true trailblazer who has stepped up to lead a new initiative despite the challenges that today’s political climate might bring, and will undoubtedly leave an impact for many years to come.”
In her current position, Cedillo-Pereira works to promote the successful inclusion of immigrants into the social and economic fabric of the Dallas community, which includes an ongoing citizenship campaign, #MyDallas Citizenship Campaign.
Prior to joining the City of Dallas executive management team, Cedillo-Pereira served as Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement where she focused on immigration policy and community engagement.
