City names new Director of Dallas Animal Services

The City of Dallas has named Edward Jamison the new director of Dallas Animal Services. Jamison is the former Chief Animal Control Officer for the City of Cleveland. He will start in Dallas on October 18.

“I am excited to welcome Ed Jamison as a member of the City’s Executive Management Team,” said Chief of Community Services Nadia Chandler Hardy. “We look forward to the great things he and the newly-formed department will accomplish for the City of Dallas.”

In Cleveland, Jamison redefined Cleveland’s animal care operations through public policy efforts, public-private partnerships and increased community engagement. He also oversaw the trademarked, award-winning City Dogs Cleveland adoption program.

A Certified Animal Services Officer, Jamison’s collaborative approach at the Cleveland Kennel included forming more than 200 volunteer cohorts, increasing community-based adoption and spay/neuter initiatives and leveraging non-profit partnerships. Under his leadership, the Cleveland Kennel now averages an 86 percent save rate for animals entering the shelter.
