Citizens invited to meet the candidates for Director of Homeless Solutions

Candidates interviewing for the position of Managing Director of Homeless Solutions will be available for a citizen meet and greet from 12:30 – 2 p.m. on Friday, January 12. The candidates will be in the second floor foyer at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla St, 75201. Below are the candidates for the position:

Ms. Rebecca Garcia has served since 2015 as the Housing Manager for the Community Development Department of the City of Morgan Hills, California. She previously served as Housing and Community Development Manager of the Office of Supportive Housing for the County of Santa Clara (San Jose) California. She earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia.

Ms. Charletra Sharp is serving as Interim Managing Director of the City of Dallas’ Office of Homeless Solutions, appointed in 2017. She previously served as a Division Manager in the City’s Housing & Community Development Department and in community development-related roles for the City of Fort Worth. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Baylor University and a Master of Social Work from Washington University in Saint Louis.

Mr. Gregory Shinn currently serves as Associate Director/Chief Housing Officer for Mental Health Association Oklahoma, based in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He also serves as President/Owner of Creative Housing Solution in Claremore, Oklahoma. His previous experience includes a variety of mental health and human services positions in Oklahoma and New York. He earned a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work, both from New York University.
