Ribbon cutting ceremony for new Urbandale Park playground set for June 4

Dallas Park and Recreation Department and the Park and Recreation Board will present a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday June 4 for the new Urbandale Park Playground. The City received a grant from Niagara Bottling and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) to install new playground equipment at the park, located at 7400 Ireland Ave.

“We want to thank Niagara Bottling and NRPA for their generosity and for their commitment to improving community parks,” said Park and Recreation Assistant Director Oscar Carmona. “We also want to thank the neighboring community for their valuable input and for helping us assess the needs of the community.”

Park and Recreation worked closely with the community and the crime watch group to determine the best equipment needed to challenge children of all ages and help develop essential dexterity skills. The grant will also provide new benches, trash receptacles, picnic tables and other site amenities. The existing swing set will be renovated with new paint, chains and new swing seats.
