Neighborhood Plus events Saturday will highlight community progress

Events being held Saturday Oct. 15 in three Neighborhood Plus target areas will show how the communities are working together to improve and maintain their homes; paint and beautify their neighborhoods; and celebrate community teamwork and progress.

Neighborhood Plus is a comprehensive neighborhood vitality strategy targeting 11 unique Dallas neighborhoods selected by City Councilmembers. For the past year, City officials have held community and advisory council meetings to identify needs in these areas.

“I’m honored to see the results of the hard work from the neighbors in the Red Bird target area,” said District 3 Councilmember Casey Thomas. “We are just beginning to scratch the surface of what the Rebirth of Red Bird will really look like and I’m very excited to be a part of it.”

The events will be held Saturday in these Neighborhood Plus Target areas:

  • Pemberton Hill: 8:45 a.m. at Turner Recreation Center at 6424 Elam Road. The neighborhood will be painting four homes from 8 a.m. to noon.
  • Red Bird: The Rebirth of Red Bird Celebration will be from 10 a.m. to noon at UNT Dallas, 7300 University Hills Blvd.
  • Elm Thicket: A Home Repair Assistance Workshop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Polk Recreation Center, 6801 Roper Street.
