Lyndel Jones January Employee Spotlight

He received a WOW card because… He has a genuine concern for the operators. As an instructor, Lyndel coordinates all Operator Certification Courses required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). He ensures that all our operators maintain/renew their licenses to process water and treat wastewater.
Lyndel tutors employees on his own time to make sure they pass the required exam and get their water/wastewater licenses. He guides and assists ad hoc instructors, oversees electronic tracking and submits training hours according to TCEQ guidelines.

He recently created a PowerPoint presentation to assist with the math portion of the class. The presentation shows how each problem should be worked and can be tailored for various classes. Because of this, the amount of time explaining the math portion has diminished.

He attributes her success to… The fact that as long as he can remember he’s enjoyed helping others. His inspiration was his father; a teacher he describes as the best example he could have followed.

His customer service philosophy… “I really try to put myself in the shoes of the other person. I know that their livelihood depends on getting and maintaining their license so I take it just as seriously as they do.”

In his spare time…He loves playing the piano. Although he never received formal training, he always had musical instruments when he was growing up and was introduced to music at a young age. He has spent hours on the piano, sometimes until his fingers were aching but he says it was definitely worth it.

His accomplishments… Receiving his Class B Water Distribution license.
