City of Dallas Opens Registration for the Seventh Annual Tree Giveaway 

September 2, 2025: The City of Dallas is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the seventh annual Branch Out Dallas tree giveaway program. This initiative offers Dallas residents an opportunity to replace a damaged or aging tree and contribute to the city’s greenery by receiving a FREE five-gallon tree. Registration is open from September 2 through September 30, or while supplies last, and residents can sign up online at dallas.gov/BranchOutDallas. 

Participants can choose from a variety of tree species selected for their resilience and regional suitability including American Elm, Bald Cypress, Chinquapin Oak, Redbud and Sycamore. Branch Out Dallas supports citywide initiatives aimed at increasing the overall tree canopy throughout the city. Trees help reduce the amount of stormwater runoff to drainage systems, help cool temperatures, improve air quality and mitigate the heat island effect.  

Tree pickup will take place on Dallas Arbor Day, Saturday, November 8, from 9 a.m. to noon, at seven locations across the city. Please note that tree delivery is not available and reserved trees must be picked up in person during event hours.  

Branch Out Dallas is led by Dallas Water Utilities staff with support from the citywide Forestry team and help from community partners and volunteers who distribute the trees.
