Street Services hosts wellness expo

The Department of Street Services (STS) recently hosted the Southeast Service Center Health & Wellness Expo for City of Dallas employees. The Expo was the third of its kind for the City with over 170 employees participating. The event consisted of on-site education, blood pressure and glucose screenings and nutritional presentations from vendors MedPost, Costco, Medico MD, Hands on Therapy and Kilospire. Employees also had access to the Baylor Mobile Mammography van as well as the Carter Blood Care Mobile Unit where 14 pints of blood was donated

Wellness events give employees the opportunity to obtain information on nutrition, key preventative measures, personal information regarding their health goals and the opportunity to earn Wellness points that can lower personal healthcare costs.

Event coordinator and STS Wellness Champion, Akilah McLaughlin, says wellness education opportunities are critical for keeping City employees equipped to serve the people of Dallas.

“Being able to provide wellness opportunities and encourage employees to take an active role in their health and makes them better employees who will enjoy long careers serving citizens throughout the City,” said McLaughlin.
