Office of Emergency Management to Host Third Annual Preparedness Fair

In honor of National Preparedness Month in September, the 2016 Emergency Preparedness Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Ronald Kirk Bridge. The Office of Emergency Management hosts this family-friendly outdoor event to promote National Preparedness Month and to help Dallas residents get what they need to be ready for an emergency.

The Preparedness Fair will have food, fun, prizes and music along with preparedness information, vendors and community agencies. Residents will also get the opportunity to put together their own emergency kit. Dallas Police and Fire Department vehicles will be available for an up-close look.

“Office of Emergency Management believes the best way for the City to bounce back from any disaster is to be prepared for it,” Community Programs Manager Cassandra Wallace says. “Our event allows residents see preparedness as part of everyday life instead of something to be dreaded.”

Preparation for emergencies can include writing an emergency plan, having an emergency supply kit and reading this comprehensive emergency preparedness guide. Sign up for emergency alerts here.
