Office of Community Police Oversight reflect on 2020, provide hope for 2021

Establishing a new office is never easy.

When Tonya McClary arrived at the City of Dallas in 2020 she was prepared to tackle establishing a newly created office and work to enhance transparency and trust between the City of Dallas, the Dallas Police Department and the community.

Unexpectedly, this task was met with the additional challenge of helping the Dallas community heal from social injustices in the middle of a global pandemic.

Director McClary met with the chair of the Community Police Oversight Board, Jesuorobo Enobakhare, to discuss the toll 2020 had on people of color and their plans to ensure they continue to provide support for Dallas residents in 2021.
