National Code Enforcement Academy coming to Dallas Nov. 16-17

City of Dallas Community Relations, Community Prosecution and Code Compliance staff will discuss “Building Successful Partnerships – The Dallas Community Prosecution Model” at the National Code Enforcement Academy’s annual conference in Dallas. The event will be held Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 16-17) at the Magnolia Hotel, 1401 Commerce St.

Code Conference2Mayor Mike Rawlings will welcome attendees on Monday and the two-day Academy will culminate on Tuesday with a tour of the City Hall led by the Dallas Community Prosecution and Community Court teams and Habitat for Humanity.

Conference sessions will address how taking a strategic approach to code enforcement can help transform communities, how market conditions affect property owner behavior, the role of strong community and government partnerships and interventions available to address vacant and occupied properties, such as “good landlord” incentives, compliance agreements, judicial actions, nuisance abatement and demolition.
