Mentorship program available for firefighter hopefuls

Dallas Fire-Fire Rescue has a mentorship program to help those hoping to become Dallas firefighters pass the physical portion of the application process. The mentorship program is a ten-week course that gives applicants the chance to meet and learn from Dallas firefighters.

Those going through the program practice the physical portion of the test which includes hose pulls, stair climbs, ladder lifts and other exercises designed to simulate what applicates will need to be able to endure to safely respond to emergencies. Applicants wear weighted vests and must finish the course in a designated period of time.

Applicants can waive their chance to participate in the program and pass the Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) without help, but the program gives applicants a leg up with a chance to train, practice and connect with current firefighters. For more information on the program, click here.
