Mayor Rawlings welcomes new Mexican Consul General to Dallas

Mayor Mike Rawlings recently welcomed to Dallas Francisco de la Torre, the newly appointed Consul General of Mexico. Mayor Pro Tem Monica R. Alonzo and State Representative Roberto Alonzo joined the mayor at the reception, held at the Latino Cultural Center.

Consul Francisco de la Torres is a member of the Mexican Diplomatic Corps and has served in various posts around the world including Brazil and Argentina.  He was appointed to the Mexican Consulate General in Dallas by the Mexican Congress on June 1.  His first order of business was to accompany Mayor Rawlings and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price to Mexico City to an economic summit in early June.

Mr. de la Torre replaces Consul General Octavio Tripp who was appointed Mexican Ambassador to Egypt.
