Local businesses recognized by City for sustainable practices

Good Coworking and Turn Compost are the latest to join a growing list of companies in Dallas awarded Green Business Certifications by the City’s Zero Waste Division for achieving a level of environmental performance and sustainability.

Good Coworking

The Green Business Certification program is a free service offered to businesses to assist them in lessening their impact on the environment using best practices. The Green Business Certification program also recognizes businesses that prevent waste, incorporate recycling, and promote reuse, reduce, and composting in their business operations. Any business who supports sustainability efforts can be recognized through the Green Business program. Good Coworking and Turn Compost were recently certified GOLD through the program.

Good Coworking, a co-working space, also offers building’s occupants the opportunity to recycle, compost, and participate in other sustainability programs. Turn Compost’s offices are in Good Coworking’s space, but they have incorporated their own sustainable efforts.

Turn Compost

Turn Compost collects organic waste from their members, such as Good Coworking, and transport it to local farmers and other partners who can responsibly recycle it as well as producing lab-tested and approved compost for their members. Turn Compost provides a way for Dallas residents to divert organic waste from the landfill during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both Good Coworking and Turn Compost cut their energy use by more than 50% by taking advantage of natural light and solar power.
