Kay Bailey Hutchison recognized by EPA for Good Neighbor Program

On Monday the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) presented the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas with an award for its Good Neighbor Program (GNP) The GNP was created as a way to donate left over food to local nonprofits and homeless shelters.

“The City of Dallas is committed to supporting and encouraging sustainable practices and waste reduction efforts,” said John Johnson, Assistant Director of Convention and Event Services. “I’m pleased to say that, to date, we’ve donated over 7.6 tons of prepared and packaged food to those in most need.”

The Convention Center is among 16 organizations from across the country, who were recognized for outstanding participation in the EPA’s Food Recovery Challenge.
