Katy Trail Pedestrian Bridge installation rescheduled for this weekend

Katy Trail Pedestrian Bridge installation rescheduled for this weekend

A segment of Abrams Road between Patrick and Trammel Drives will be closed to through traffic from 8 p.m. Friday Nov. 13 until 10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 14. This closure is being done for the installation of the Katy Trail pedestrian bridge over Abrams Road.

Through traffic will be routed around the bridge installation site via Mockingbird Lane, Skillman Street and Lovers Lane. Local traffic will still be able to access homes in the area. There will be lights and noise during the overnight hours generated by the cranes and other heavy equipment necessary for the installation.

“We don’t expect to encounter any further delays as experienced in previous weeks,” said Public Works Director Rick Galceran.” The Abrams Road bridge installation will be the last of four bridges in this phase of the Katy Trail that will eventually provide safe crossings for users.  We’re looking forward to installing this part of the project that will get us closer towards completing Phase IV,” he said.

This operation may be subject to change due to weather conditions.
