A Dallas man has been arrested and charged with Felony Animal Cruelty for allegedly setting a dog on fire. City officials say a cooperative effort by Dallas Animal Services and other first responders were instrumental in the arrest of Otis Gardner who has charged with the crime.

Otis Gardner, 64, is charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals: torture.

“We want to thank our fellow first responders for recognizing the importance of pursuing animal cruelty cases,” said DAS Division Manager Jody Jones. “Our ongoing partnership continues to make progress in the fight against animal cruelty.”

Dallas Police arrested Gardner on Wednesday. The dog, Bruno, was treated for his injuries at a local veterinary clinic and is recovering.
