In her free time, Rose has utilized her skills to assist DAS by photographing adoptable pets to help raise awareness and promote adoptions. In turn, she has altered the lives of many Dallas animals from one of despair to one of joy and hope.

This series has taken on a unique approach. Photographer Sophie Gamand’s “Flower Power” campaign inspired the DAS staff to get creative. Shelter dogs are personalized by dressing them in brightly-colored flowers. The images are then utilized during the adoption process to connect the dogs with adopters.

“Statistics show that the majority of the dogs and cats entering shelters do so because their owners could no longer care for them, not because of any medical or behavioral flaws,” DAS Director of Operations Dr. Catherine McManus said. “On any given day, DAS is full of wonderful dogs and pets that just need a second chance at life. This is a great way to shine a light on them.”

Rose has truly established herself as an invaluable member of our DallasPETS community by showing these animals as more than just neglected, sad dogs. She has inspired many to take the steps we’re all hoping for – contributing to a second record month of live-release rates at the Dallas Animal Services.
