DART presents proposed FY 2017 Budget and 20-Year Plan

DART presents proposed FY 2017 Budget and 20-Year Plan

The 20-Year Financial Plan was constructed from detailed data on capital projects, reserves, cashflows, operating expenses, revenues, sales tax and inflation projections and debt service assumptions. The plan is reviewed and updated every year using the prior year’s data. The budget for this upcoming year is the first year of the 20-year financial plan.

Operating costs from FY 2016 and the proposed 2017 budget are staying the same. Capital and Non-Operating budget items would increase from $278.3 million to $289.1 million. Debt service would decrease from $197.8 to $191.5.

Projects to increase the core capacity of the DART Light Rail system are: the construction of a second rail corridor through downtown Dallas (known as D2) to increase options and provide an alternate route in the event of a service disruption; platform extensions to the oldest stations on the Red & Blue lines to accommodate three-car trains and; the expansion of the Streetcar network, connecting the Oak Cliff Streetcar line with the McKinney Avenue Streetcar line.

The DART Board is scheduled to approve the FY 2017 Annual Budget and 20-Year Financial Plan on September 27. For a full break down of the financial plan, click here.
