Dallas Streetcar Block Party to celebrate southern extension to Bishop Arts

The City of Dallas in coordination with DART invites the community to the Dallas Streetcar Community Block Party, to be held on 7th Street, between Madison and Bishop Avenues from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday Aug. 27. The event is being held to celebrate the opening of the new Southern Extension to the Bishop Arts District. Attendees will have a chance to be the first to ride on the new Streetcar Southern Extension.

Activities will include booths from your favorite local organizations, a bounce house, art for kids and more. The Bishop Arts Stop is located at the corner of Davis Street and Zang Boulevard, approximately one block from the event.

The Dallas Streetcar is a free service that runs from 9:30 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.  The cars run at 20-minute intervals with six stops located at Union Station, Greenbriar Lane/ Zang Boulevard, Oakenwald Street/Zang Boulevard, Beckley Avenue/Colorado Boulevard, 6th Street and Zang Boulevard/Davis Street. The Dallas Streetcar will run on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to midnight.

The Southern Extension, which officially opens Monday Aug. 29 will extend the line to a total of 2.45 miles, connecting downtown Dallas and Union Station to Davis Street in Bishop Arts.
