Dallas Fire Rescue K9 leaves behind a legacy

Retired Dallas Fire Rescue K9 Ashly, passed away April 10 after 10 years of service.

Ashley was adopted as a stray at six months old by the Dallas Fire Rescue Department after being found in a cow field. 

During her career with the DFR, Ashly was used to obtain grants and funds to host an Annual Texas K9 Conference in Dallas which ran at no cost to all police and fire K9 teams. She also became the first fire dog inducted into the National Kids N Cops Program.

Ashly has been the star of many newspapers and media stories, campaigns, fundraising events and more.
