Council hears “Future of Fair Park” proposal

The Dallas City Council is considering a proposal that would privatize Fair Park and form a Fair Park Texas Foundation that would then manage and operate the facility year-round.

Former Hunt Oil Company President Walt Humann presented “The Future of Fair Park” proposal to the Council. His proposal outlines a wide range of actions needed, including repairing and modernizing many of the parks’ aging buildings, adding more light and water features to the park, instituting a more aggressive marketing effort and asking voters to approve a bond program in 2017 to fund the needed improvements and additions.

If the council agrees to the plan that would create the Fair Park Texas Foundation, the City would continue to own the park, but the foundation would manage the assets and land.
