City to celebrate National Community Development Week

City to celebrate National Community Development Week

The City of Dallas will celebrate National Community Development (NCD) Week from April 17 to April 22. The celebration brings together citizens, government officials, businesses, media, and non-profit organizations through events to showcase the impact of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Grant (HOME) funds. The week will educate the public about the programs which are administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The programs provided by CDBG and HOME are vital to improve the overall condition of Dallas neighborhoods. The City will highlight both programs during NCD Week with the following activities:

  • April 17 at 8 a.m. –  South Oak Cliff Community Court’s 7th Anniversary
  • April 18 – Celebrate Fair Housing Month Open House
  • Highlights of CDBG & HOME programs featured on Facebook and Twitter throughout the week. You can follow the conversation by these hashtags – #CDWeek2017 #Fight4CDBG #Fight4HOME #CDBGImpact.

NCD Week was started by the National Community Development Association (NCDA) and the U.S. Conference of Mayors over 30 years ago to promote the importance of CDBG projects in our communities.
