Streets around Dealey Plaza closed Monday for feature film shoot

The City of Dallas will close streets around Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday Nov. 2 to accommodate shooting of the film “LBJ.” The film, starring Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jeffrey Donovan centers on the political upheaval faced by Lyndon Johnson when he was thrust into the presidency after the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

The filming will require full closure of the 400 to 600 block of Elm Street, 400 to 600 block of Main Street, the 100 block of South Houston and the 100 to 200 block of North Houston.

A comprehensive traffic plan has been developed by the Dallas Police Department in conjunction with the film production company in an effort to minimize traffic interruptions. Parking garages and open businesses will not be blocked and pedestrian traffic will be allowed to flow freely.

The film set is closed to the public. Citizens in the area are advised that live blank gunfire will be heard periodically throughout the day on Monday.
