AirCheckTexas program offers residents help with vehicle repair or replacement

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCG) is offering North Texas residents vouchers to help repair or replace their vehicles if they fail to pass the emissions portion of the state inspection. Under the NCTCG AirCheckTexas program, eligible residents can apply for vouchers from $600 to $3,500.

Approximately $16 million is available to North Texas vehicle owners. The AirCheckTexas Drive a Clean Machine Program continues to accept applications for replacement vouchers after the Texas Legislature restored full funding to what has become one of the most successful air quality programs in Dallas-Fort Worth.

North Texans whose vehicles are at least 10 years old or have failed the emissions portion of the state inspection in the last 30 days may apply for assistance and meet income guidelines.

A family of four earning $72,750 or less per year may receive assistance. Vehicles must be registered in one of these participating counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall or Tarrant.

The additional funding is expected to provide vouchers for approximately 6,000 vehicles. For more information visit www.nctcog.org/airchecktexas.
