6 insider tips for traveling this holiday season

Tis’ the season for hustle and bustle at airports across the county as people begin their holiday travel.

Thankfully, our travel aficionados with the Department of Aviation have gathered insider tips to help City employees navigate the busy holiday season like a pro.

Arrive Early

You won’t be the only one traveling this holiday season, so be sure to arrive early. Arriving 90 minutes to 2 hours in advance of your departure gives you and your family plenty of time to check luggage, situate boarding passes and make it through the TSA Security Checkpoint.

Park Smart

Make getting to and from the airport easier than ever by parking in Love Field’s convenient garages. Garage C opened last year and has more than 3,000 spots available. Discounted prices are available for roof parking. See all garage daily rates here.

Stay Healthy

With so many people passing through the airport, germs are unavoidable. While Love Field’s custodial staff works diligently to keep the airport looking pristine, it never hurts to keep hand sanitizer with you while you travel.

Holiday Flavor

Craving holiday turkey? Get your fix with one of the airport’s restaurants.
-La Madeleine Turkey Cranberry Melt
-Cool River Café T.B.L.A.S.T.
-Bruegger’s Bagels Herby Turkey

Pack Smart

Another way to make sure you sail through security is to pack correctly. Check the TSA’s What Can I Bring? page for details on everything you can pack in your carry-on or checked luggage. Did you know you can take an entire turkey in your carry-on?

Got kids?
Flying with infants and/or toddlers can be even more stressful during the holidays. If they’re all hyped up on hot chocolate and holiday treats, let them burn off some energy in the Lil’ Love Lounge before your flight. Family-friendly restrooms are located in both the secure and non-secure portions of the terminal. A nursing room is located in the stem near Sky Canyon.
